In-Character Information

Name: Hyokomon - Torinosuke
Game/Series: Digimon
Teacher/Student/Other: Student
Canon Point: Digimon World Dusk start of game, when many digimon are reverted to digital eggs.
Age: 14ish
Grade Level/Class Taught/Job: Freshman
Dorm or Living Arrangement: Dorm (He will be living with Ishimaru and Mondo. I have permission from both players.)

Personality:
Torinosuke is, for the most part, a loner by trade. It's not that he doesn't like the company of others, be it human or digimon (and whatever these strange other creatures are), it's simply that he has been used to keeping to himself for all his life to focusing on training.

Training, you see, is incredibly important to him. Even as a Digi-Egg, Torinosuke always dreamed of protecting the digital world and its inhabitants from whatever great danger would lurk around the corner. And while such goals are noble, it also came with an ego and a sense of personal pride. As such, it has dedicated its life to become a perfect swordmaster. Training with dangerous digimon and fighting relentlessly, he has always hoped to bypass the odds of a partner-less digimon, and evolving into a Mega level. Unfortunately, those plans never came to fruition, and he was forced to admit that even if he continued down his path of discipline, he simply did not have what it took to become as powerful as other Digimon.

He takes defeat just as seriously, and a blow like that was really hard to his ego. It took him a few cycles to even be able to accept it, and even now, it is a bitter issue for him, even more when he was forced to start his evolution over. While he's happy to have a partner, there will always be a sting at the back of his mind at the thought he could not do this alone. This attitude also finds itself in many other common everyday situations. For the most part, Torinosuke will outright refuse aid, wanting everything that requires help from someone to be a fair trade. He will be angry for not getting a perfect note. He will yell loudly at himself if he trips down a pair of stairs. For Torinosuke, to become the protector of the digital world means being utterly and flawlessly perfect, and instead of overcoming these faults in a more reasonable way, he deals with them with a certain degrees of self-bitterness. To someone who is a good judgement of character, it is easy to notice that he's being way too harsh upon himself. He's got issues, to put it lightly.

He's curious about the human world. Everything he knows about it was heard from the recollections of others and what he could gleam from other digimon. Torinosuke is a sponge about knowledge, the only problem is that he doesn't ask for it, rather going off and doing his own thing. He's a terrible team player, not because he doesn't want to, but because he doesn't know how to. Mix this in with a healthy does of wanting to be perfect, and it's just a disaster waiting to happen.

He likes his things working in order, not dusty of filled with mud. Torinosuke is not so obsessed that he will stop fighting once he gets mud on his outfit, but he will add it to a list of insult to how dirty his foe is fighting him. He especially hates fighting people that smell like they haven't showered for days. Ewww. Yet he's also honor-bound. For the glory of the digital world and the protection of the human world! Hyokomon does not back down a fight once someone challenges him to a duel. It causes some unnecessary situations as he tends to go out of his way to prove a point, and forgoes safety for what are obvious traps.

Yet for the most part one could think that he's the quiet kid at the back of the room, furiously writing down notes with the passion of a thousand suns and being a bright, good student. At least until he raises his hand, and the truth comes forth.

He has no indoor voice. Hyokomon doesn't understand the concept of needing to whisper or talk at a normal sound level. To him everything is said dramatically. Let the world hear him as he approaches! With Torinosuke there is either "on" or 'off". Asking him to quiet down would be much easier of he wasn't so thick-headed and thought of it more as an insult. He's done everything by himself before, why should someone else tell him what to do?

There is, of course, one exception, and that is his partner. With Ishimaru, well, Torinosuke listens and reacts in a completely different way. He considers him his Daimyo and what Ishimaru, says, goes. As much as he wants independence from the others, he's the exact opposite with him.

A mixture of sensei, admiration and just plain old fanboyism, Torinosuke is very attached to him. Actually it is to a slightly creepy point due to the fact that he pretty much does not want any other Digimon to become part of their team (ever), and also that he's self-appointed himself as his bodyguard/watchdog/maid/subordinate. While he may chose to deny it, he is also jealous of Ishimaru's other friends, be they human, digital or pokemon. Ironically, the digimon is so used to living alone and now having a partner that he's...well...unsure on how to have a normal social life. He will need careful guidance in this manner.

As digimon reproduce by regenerating their code he does not have emotional connections or know about love. Which means when these very human emotions start to stir inside him as he continues to use his human form, it will lead to some extremely confusing and magical times. As it will be when he experiences his first crying spell, be it through joy or pain. Gross tears and yelling are definitely on the menu.

Backstory:
Torinosuke's history is not as interesting as he wishes it was. As with most Digimon, he was hatched from a Digi-egg, composed of pieces of codes from other digimon. Starting as a Chicchimon, he evolved into Hyokomon naturally after many hard cycles of practice, before evolving into Buraimon a few datacycles later. His entire life was dedicated into perfecting his status. He does not remember information from his previous cycles as some other Digimon do, and, lacking a human partner, decided to embark on a quest to become the most powerful Digimon warrior. Day after day, he would go alone in the Thriller Ruins and fight fellow Digimon there until he gained more power, evolving from one form to the next. He continued to train alone, knowing all too well that by himself his quest into true warrior-hood would be a much longer journey. However, he persevered until he came to a roadblock and found himself unable to evolve past his Champion form, no matter how much effort he put into it.

He had come to a standstill. How could it save the digital world and protect others if he couldn't be as strong as the greatest digimon that could threaten their world?

Humans travel frequently in the Digital World, and seeing partners had become a rather common sight for him. While Torinosuke always wanted a partner, he felt that none of the humans he had seen deserved him. It didn't help that, proud as he was, the Buraimon didn't want to be part of a team or a backup digimon for a trainer, he wanted to be their main partner. Yet to be able to continue, he realized, for the greatest good of his world, he might have to do the unthinkable and join a team and swallow his pride.

Curiosity got the better of him when he heard that the Normal Digital Tournament was being held between the Dusk and Dawn teams. The tournaments were always an excellent showmanship of Digimon and Human partners fighting together and may help him select someone he felt comfortable enough to join with. As he pondered about challenging one of the groups, Torinosuke was one of many countless digimon caught by a trap laid by a mysterious entity who reverted most Digimon into Digi-Eggs.

And that is his last memory before his egg was pulled from the digital world and onto Ishimaru's bed at Smash Academy.

Anything Else?:
> Level Rookie | Type Chick | Vaccine Attribute
> Main attack is Cleaving Cut, but he's also a competent sword fighter.

> As a Digimon he is 4'5" as a human, he is 5'6"
> Despite his small stature, he has a deep, booming voice. We're talking Rick Astley deep, it's misappropriate to his everything.

> Upon arrival to Smash Academy, the Digi-Egg will hatch into Chicchimon. However, it will stay like this very briefly (less than a log) before evolving into Hyokomon.

> He does not have Torinosuke for his name yet, as naming will happen with his first log.

> He will be rooming with Ishimaru and Mondo since he still has access to the digital world via Ishimaru's computer.

> This entire app has been approved and discussed with Shocky, considering Ishimaru will be his partner.

> The Digital World is a parallel universe mirror earth that was first "born" when the first human computer went online. There are countless Digital worlds to fit with countless multiverse Earths. For the most part, like Torinosuke's, humans and digimon have come into contact and established partnerships. There may even be a digital world parallel to Smash's own!

> Digimon tend to be aware of their connection between most worlds. They also speak the human language, even if they have their own DigiCode.

> Digimon who bound with a human partner tend to do so for the human's life. If the digimon die, they may return with memories of the trainer in another form.

> Digimon have no defined sexes. I used the prefix "he", but Torinosuke is more of an It. However It likes being called a He by his partner so what he says goes!

> Human Partners, while unnecessary for Digimon, do give them many benefits: Apart from a partnership, Digimon who have bounded with human partners evolve much faster than Digimon in the wild. They can also help control the Digimon's evolutionary stages, or even degenerate them and follow another.

> Apart from the quick evolution in the initial log, Hyokomon will not be evolving for a while. While there is no precedence for digimon in the game, I figured taking a Pokemon-like evolve request would be the best way to do it, which means if he does evolve, I will submit a small post in the application post as a form of canon update.

> His entire planned evolution line.

In-Character 1st person sample:
[The bonus of being a digital creature is that Hyokomon had absolutely no problems on how to get his Daimyo's computer working to be able to post. So here's something from Ishimaru, everyone.

You may want to bring earplugs.]

GOOD EVENING! IT HAS COME TO MY ATTENTION THAT THERE ARE OVER A FORTY COURSES AVAILABLE!! HOWEVER EVEN WITH MY STRICT STUDY METHODS, I APPEARS THAT MANY CLASSES FALL DURING THE SAME TIME!!

THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE! I WILL NOT TOLERATE FAILURE ON MYSELF FOR BEING UNABLE TO LEARN EVERYTHING!!

AS I WISH TO TAKE THEM ALL, I WOULD LIKE TO ASK WHEN IT WOULD BE POSSIBLE FOR THE TEACHERS TO MEET ME DURING THE WEEKENDS SO THAT I MAY PROPERLY STUDY EVERYTHING IN ITS FULL! EARLY MORNINGS OR NIGHTS ARE ALSO ACCEPTABLE, I WILL ADJUST MY SLEEPING CYCLE ACCORDINGLY.

[He gives a small, respectful boy.]

THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION!! I LOOK FORWARD TO HEARING THE GOOD NEWS!

[Please don't let him down, even if he's setting himself up for major disappointment and--wait he's not done.]

AHH YES!

I REQUIRE THAT THE ONE WHO IS MOST SKILLED WITH SWORD REPAIR TO COME FORTH AND AID ME IN SHARPENING MY BLADE! I ATTEMPTED TO CUT A "MELON OF WATER" AND IT DID NOT SLICE AS SATISFACTORY AS I HAD HOPED! IN EXCHANGE, I OFFER MY ETERNAL GRATITUDE AND SERVICES RENDERED AS YOU SEE FIT.

[Phew. Talking over the network is hard work.]

In-Character 3rd person sample:
The clacking of tiny raptor-like feet as the Digimon descended the stone steps was only interrupted by the slicing of various fruits and vegetables as Torinosuke practiced his sword skills. One, two, three, four, the pieces of fruit fell unceremoniously from their perches as his sword sliced into them as easily as butter.

Still not fast enough.

"TCH." He would not become a powerful swordmaster if he even flinched. If he was to protect the Digital world properly he would need to be more like his daimyo. He should go see him and...

...did not notice as one of the melons slipped and he fell on top of a slide, sending him spiraling down the stares. Even the egg of his body cracked as he finally landed at the bottom floor, dizzy and shaken. As he stood up he...screamed to the skies?

"NOOoooooo!" The yell was surprisingly low-pitched for his body. "I SLIPPED! WHAT AN UNGRACEFUL LANDING! I MUST AMEND THIS FAULT!" Sweat running down his brow, he grabbed his sword, and slowly walked to the cafeteria, intent on getting more fruits and starting again.

This time he would do it right. The fate of everything rested on his shoulders!
